We are seeking a commercial marketing assistant with excellent digital marketing skills to join an exciting and expanding media business.

Job summary

This is a new commercial marketing role created to supporting revenue and lead generation across the agricultural portfolio. Key responsibilities will include digital marketing, email marketing and lead generation for the Farmers Guardian sales teams and for sponsored bespoke projects delivered under the rapidly growing Insightful brand.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is focussed on:

  • Assisting in the delivery of multi-channel sponsored projects in accordance with the client’s brief
  • Working with the Marketing Manager to create social media campaigns across multiple projects running concurrently
  • Lead generation support for the commercial teams
  • Support commercial websites to help drive traffic, engagement and online revenue

Marketing and Communications

  • Daily social media activity, focusing on Facebook and Twitter
  • Use of multiple digital marketing channels
  • Creation of email campaigns
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure all sponsorship agreements are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Supply content updates to the web team to ensure all commercial websites are regularly updated
  • Use of media monitoring software to launch press releases and measure press activity
  • Production of sales collateral, flyers and other communication materials requiring copy writing, proof reading and image sourcing
  • Ensure brand consistency across projects and ensuring the clients brand guidelines are always met


  • Accurate and up-to-date recording of marketing activity undertaken
  • Support the Marketing Manager in the creation of project specific marketing plans and specifically social media plans
  • The creation of post-event audit reports for clients using Powerpoint
  • Managing databases to segment market and identify target audiences marketing activity

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a marketing assistant role or similar role  
  • Experience of managing corporate social media accounts and creating paid for social media campaigns
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with strengths in forward planning
  • Management of data, including creation of databases with data analysis skills
  • Experience of using google analytics
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • A team player with a positive attitude
  • Superb attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Proactive and able to work autonomously while dealing with a varied workload
  • Self-motivated, results focused, strong communication skills
  • Experience of using project management software and basic Photoshop/Illustrator skills would be an advantage
  • Sales or account management experience would be an advantage


  • The job is based in the Preston office.
  • Basic hours of work are 9 – 5 Monday to Friday.
  • Occasional trips away from home may be required.
